Here is where Questions, Links and interesting Responses to stories we discuss in class will be posted.
Project 1 Discussing Fiction -- will be worth a totoal of 40 points (10 points for each response)
Discussing Fiction Project Assignments:
Each student in English 201 is required to: Post personal responses or comments about at least four (4) of our Reading assignments. A question or prompt for responses will be provided for each reading on the Discussion tab. More advanced students may also start their own "Subject" by posting a substantial response and then invite replies to this.
The responses will be graded on a 10-point scale. These responses must be substantial: a well-developed paragraph (about 150 words) that states a main idea or thesis and then supports this with quotations or other specific textual references. Use the tools for formal literary analysis that we have been learning in class: such as tools for rhetorical analysis, plot analaysis, character analysis, or analysis of literary elements, such as metaphors, symbols, imagery, motif, allegory, theme, tone, narrative voice, etc. Also, remember that this is a formal assignment and so standard punctuation, spelling, and syntax is expected. When discussing a work, always state the title in proper format along with the author's (or director's) full name if known. Other sources abou the text or analysis may be consulted, but the responses must reflect the student's position and be written by the student: plagiarism will not be tolerated. See the Course Syllabus for the Academic Honesty Policy.
